When I want to see lots and lots and lots and lots of bullets being fired, I play this game. It's most exhilirating to empty magazines at like 5 nazis and then to switch to dual SMG's to come around the corner unloading on the last few. So the second half is just a little weaker and I find some of the setpieces not as interesting as the first game and the weapons aren't as varied, I don't know, but it's still super fun fast paced shooty nazi shooter that's just fun to mow down nazis. The story has something to say about fascism and toxic masculinity versus feminism, in my opinion, it's a little heavy handed and yeah, you're right, the story tapers off after the beheading, which makes sense, because in story terms, that's where BJ kind of changes and then the game kind of lingers, which is something you don't do in storytelling, don't stick around, one the story is told, finish it up and leave! Honestly it reminded me most of my favorite moments in the Goldeneye, running through hallways, mowing down enemies with dual assault rifles and completing objectives. I cheesed the courtroom by hiding at the top of the stairs :pĭrinking scene with Horton was a favourite, as was the party on the boat- I especially loved the different party hats!Īlso cheesed (maybe I'm just rubbish at games?) the Nazi bot section by hiding in the corridors and popping out, and the Anya grenade scene was just pure grindhouse- loved it! I thought the progression through the game was really interesting, with that mid-story health boost (and the additional contraption perks) making the game feel good after the first half forced you to take a slower, more measured approach. The stakes (ie kickstarting a revolution) could never be too high, because there'll be the third game to cap off the story.Īs to the gameplay, I didn't have too much issue with it. The shift to America was interesting, but the world was already set out in the first game- this is just icing on the cake. cold? Maybe it's a symptom of being the middle game of a trilogy. Pretty much what I thought too, the personal stories of BJ and the circle are the compelling stuff for me. Now on to the Enigma machine, which is hard as shit! And eventually a replay on easy for collectibles.

Not sure what she was doing fighting pregnant but this is a wild series I'll chalk it up to that. The whole bloody topless cut with Anya was kinda weird lol but interesting I guess. Ending was a little weak, I died maybe 5 times in the final battle against the giant nazi bots, but it was nice to take care of Engal in a cinematic fashion. Actually that whole section of New Orleans with the eerie chants was pretty good. The music, the scenery and dialogue was just incredible with the differing philosophies.

These games deserve a good movie adaptation. Now, I have to say the drinking scene with Horton was one of the best cutscenes I've ever seen in a video game, if not the best. It was pretty sad how his father betrayed him and nearly led to his death. Secondly, BJ's upbringing was heartbreaking, with his jewish mother and abusive father, just adding more heart string tugging to this universe.

I'll get the courtroom moment out of the way, it was frustrating but once I found out I could detatch the turrets, not terribly hard.

Speaking of frustrating, I'll get down to the specifics. I found the overall game play to be a blast, though there were frustrating moments.

All I'm missing is grenade toss backs and the electricution/stun perks if someone wants to point me in the right direction. This encouraged me to fill up my perk chart. I played one difficulty above Normal and quickly realised that I keep my perk kills after I die, so I'm getting better after every death as long as I mix up kills. I don't know that I can say it's as good as The New Order, because the story seemed to taper off after the beheadin, but it was great as a whole.Īs for the gameplay, I know some had issues with the gameplay but I don't really follow. Firstly, I'll say that the story was exceptional, another master piece of a story, at least for the first half of the game, and a worthy successor to The New Order.
